Step 1: Cut the LumberUse a circular saw or miter saw to cut the lumber to the following lengths:
- Bench:
- 4x4s: 2 pieces at 18 inches for the legs (cut at a 45-degree angle on the top)
- 2x6s: 4 pieces at 60 inches for the sides
- 2x4s: 6 pieces at 18 inches for the slats
- Coffee Table:

- 2x6s: 4 pieces at 24 inches for the top frame
- Place two of the 4x4 legs parallel to each other, 60 inches apart.
- Attach the two 2x6 side pieces to the top of the legs, flush with the edges, using wood screws.
- Space the 2x4 slats evenly across the side pieces and attach them using wood screws. Ensure that the slats overhang the sides slightly.
- Attach the four 2x6 frame pieces together to form a square, using wood screws.
- Place the four 4x4 legs in each corner of the frame and secure them with wood screws.
- Dig four holes 12 inches deep and 6 inches wide, spaced evenly around the perimeter of where you want the furniture to be placed.
- Place the 4x4 posts in the holes and fill the gaps with concrete. Allow the concrete to cure for at least 24 hours.
- Attach the furniture to the posts using concrete screws.
- Sand any rough edges or splinters.
- Apply a sealant or stain to protect the wood from the elements.
- Add post caps to the tops of the posts (optional).
