How to Replace Slings on Patio Furniture

Patio furniture is a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors. However, over time, the slings on patio furniture can become worn or damaged, making them uncomfortable or even unsafe to use. Replacing the slings is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours. Here are the essential steps on how to replace slings on patio furniture:

Materials You'll Need

Before you begin, you'll need to gather the following materials:

  • New replacement slings
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Sharp scissors or utility knife
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Drill (optional)
  • Drill bit (optional)
  • Hammer (optional)
  • Punch (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure and Mark the New Slings

Lay the new slings over the frame of the patio furniture. Measure and mark the slings so that they are the same size as the old slings. You can use a measuring tape or ruler to do this.

2. Cut the New Slings

Once the slings are marked, use sharp scissors or a utility knife to cut them to size. Be careful not to cut the slings too small, as they will need to be able to be attached to the frame of the patio furniture.

3. Remove the Old Slings

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that are holding the old slings in place. Once the screws are removed, you should be able to pull the old slings off of the frame of the patio furniture.

4. Attach the New Slings

Place the new slings over the frame of the patio furniture. Align the slings with the holes in the frame. If the holes in the slings do not line up with the holes in the frame, you may need to drill new holes. To do this, use a drill and a drill bit that is the same size as the screws you are using.

Once the new slings are aligned, use a Phillips head screwdriver to attach them to the frame. Make sure to tighten the screws securely.

5. Tension the Slings (Optional)

If the slings are too loose, you can tension them by using a hammer and a punch. To do this, place the punch on the inside of the sling and hit it with the hammer. This will tighten the sling and make it more comfortable to use.

6. Enjoy Your New Slings

Once the slings are attached, you can enjoy your newly refurbished patio furniture. Relax and enjoy the outdoors in comfort and style.
